Upgrade from Version 2 to Version 3

This page describes how the user of the previous version 2 can copy their existing time stamps to the new Version 3 software.

The version 3 upgrade has significant changes in the software and we were not able to automatically transfer the time stamps. The format of the time stamps has not changed and they are still created according to international standards. The challenge is simply copying the time stamps to a new storage location.

Instructions for copying your time stamps from version 2

There are a couple of ways to do this and we describe the alternatives below. We apologize that we could not make this easier for this upgrade. Option 1 below is the easiest and quickest way to perform the conversion. Please contact support@e-TimeStamp.com if you have any questions.

Release 3 will accept a special export file from Release 2. This file can only be created with release 2.05. This special file is a single file that contains all the time stamps that you created in release 2.

Options:

1. Send your "data base" of time stamps from Release 2 to support@e-TimeStamp.com and we will send you back a file that can be easily imported into Release 3. Your Release 2 time stamps are stored in files named:

IPPDB2.odb
IPPDB2.odt

These files are located in the directory where you originally installed version 2 of IP-Protector.
(e.g. C:/Program Files/IP-Protector).
Send us these files by e-mail.

You do not send us you actual time stamped documents. You are sending us just the time stamps. If you are concerned about the confidentiality of these time stamps then please use one of the options below.
2. Upgrade your Release 2 software to version 2.05 using the instructions here. This will add the feature in Release 2 for you to export all the time stamps that are in release 2 to a file that is compatible with this new release.
New button in Release 2 that you will use:

3. Start your existing Release 2 version of the software and export each time stamp individually (use the IETF standard format for the export). Then, each of the time stamps will need to be imported in to this release use the normal "import function". This can be a tedious process if you have many time stamps.
