 Upgrade Version 2.05.1

Version 2.05 is a minor upgrade and is required only to support transferring your time stamps to our new major upgrade, Version 3

The Version 2.05 and older will no longer be supported as of August 2004, except for the purpose of upgrading to version 3. A no-charge upgrade is offered below. Users of version 2.05 and older will still be able to verify their existing time stamps, but not able to create new ones.

Instructions for upgrading to version 2.05.1

You can check which version is installed on your computer by: start the IP-Protector application, then select the "About" tab. On the About page on the left side near the top you will find the version number. If it says "version: 2.05.1" then you already have the latest version.

Users of IP-Protector version 2.01, 2.02, 2.03, 2.04 and 2.05

There are two methods described below for you to update your copy of IP-Protector. The time stamps that you have already created with IP-Protector will be preserved during the upgrade process. If you would like to make a backup copy of your set of time stamps there are instructions here

  • 1. Automatic Installer Close the IP Protector application. Download the software installer here  by selecting your computer type and then download the version that is marked "easiest". Run the install program and when asked 'where to install', choose the same location where IP-Protector is currently installed on your computer (e.g. C:/Program Files/IP-Protector).
  • Or, 2. Manually replace one file By using this method you can reduce the size of the data that you need to download. Download this single file "iprot20.jar" (355k) . You may need to "right click" on this link and select the "save as" function to download. If the name of the file does not transfer properly, then simply rename it to "iprot20.jar". Replace the file with the same name that is located in the directory where you originally installed IP-Protector (e.g. C:/Program Files/IP-Protector/iprot20.jar). Restart the IP Protector application.

Primary changes in version 2.05.1

February 3 2003. A bug was repaired where the "view details" window did not properly display the field "The complete time stamp in base 64 notation". The value in that field was not updated with the proper value as you selected different time stamps.

Primary changes in version 2.05

October 7, 2002. A feature has been added that allows you to export all of your time stamps to our new major release, version 3.

Primary changes in version 2.04

A feature has been added to print time stamp certificates. Also, as you create time stamps a copy of the x.509 public key certificate is copied to your computer. This certificate can be use later to verify the time stamp without needing to contact DigiStamp.

Primary changes in version 2.03

The software has been translated to the French language. To use the French version go to the "User Preferences" tab and select "Francais". Also, we have converted our accounting methods to a generic "units" basis to support our users with a variety of currencies.

Primary changes in version 2.02

Time stamps are created based on an IETF proposed time stamp standard. You will be accessing NIST certified hardware when creating your time stamps. In the 2.02 upgrade, the time stamp format is update to the most recent IETF TSP draft 11. The previous time stamp format is still supported.

Version 2.02 and older will no longer be supported as of April 24, 2002. A no-charge upgrade is offered below. Users of version 2.02 and older will still be able to verify their existing time stamps, but not able to create new ones.

Users of e-TimeStamp versions 1 to 1.16 pre-release

For users of E-TimeStamp pre-release versions dating back to March 1998:
Time Stamps that were created by the "e-TimeStamp versions 1 to 1.16 pre-release" can not be imported into the new IP-Protector software. This is primarily due to our adoption of international standards for time stamp protocols. The old software will soon be disabled from creating new time stamps because the new software should be used. Your ability to verify your existing time stamps will continue by using the older version. When installing the new version of IP-Protector do not overwrite your existing e-TimeStamp application. Instead, install to an entirely different directory. This will preserve your ability verify your existing time stamps.
